Introduction to Python (2x half-day workshops)

Description

This workshop aims to equip participants with the fundamentals of programming in Python and give them skills needed to apply data analysis approaches to their research questions.

The course is aimed at beginners to programming. You don’t need to have any previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop.

In this workshop you will be introduced to the basics of Python programming such as introduction to variables and data types, iterative looping, reading datafiles and manipulating data, and basic 2D plotting and data visualisation, and writing reusable and modular code with functions.

Course Level: Foundational

This workshop is run in two parts, Graduate Research students must attend both sessions to receive credit.

20 October: 10:00am – 2:30pm

21 October: 10:00am – 2:30pm

This course is considered as an equivalent to “Data Fluency: Half-day Express Python Course”. Graduate Research students will only receive credit for one of these workshops, not both.
